This year, to receive your CME for the SVM Annual Scientific Sessions, you can complete the form online. Attendees will be sent a link to the survey at the conclusion of the Annual Meeting. The brief meeting survey and CME form can be completed quickly and efficiently.


Novel Anticoagulant Workshop

We are excited to present the Novel Anticoagulant Workshop during the SVM Annual Meeting. SVM has created this session to communicate the pharmacology, how the drugs should be used in venous thromboembolism and atrial fibrillation, the impact on hospital P&T committees and how the new agents will affect anticoagulation clinics. SVM Introduces New Member Categories

SVM has approved two New Member Categories, expanding its formal membership categories beyond the physician to welcome nurses, nurse practitioners, physician assistants and others into SVM membership. The new categories are:

  • Advanced Practitioner Members — includes individuals who have attained an advanced degree such as nurse practitioner, physician assistant, certified nurse specialist or equivalent. ($125)
  • Vascular Care Team Members — includes nurses, ultrasonographers, radiology technicians (CT, MR), cardiac cath lab technologists or equivalent. ($90)

Advanced Practitioner and Vascular Care Team Members receive:

  • Online access to Vascular Medicine, the journal of SVM.
  • Active Web site, including the hot Case Study of the Month
  • Reduced registration fees to annual meetings and educational programs.
  • Quarterly newsletters
  • SVM Job Bank — Employment listings that allow members to post and request job listings from across the nation.
  • SVM Online Member Directory — members only.
  • Women in Vascular Medicine Directory — opportunities for networking and professional growth for women in SVM.
  • CME or CEU credit for participation in annual meetings and vascular review courses.

Rules and Restrictions:

  • This offer is open to current SVM Fellow, Doctorate, Advanced Practitioner or Vascular Care Team members.
  • New applicant must be a Doctorate, Advanced Practitioner or Vascular Care Team candidate.
  • New applicant must meet all eligibility criteria.
  • Full dues payment must be received with application on or by May 16.
  • Current SVM member sponsor will receive $25 credit for annual meeting registration after receipt of new member application and payment is verified and registration form and payment for annual meeting is received. Although multiple referrals are encouraged, current members will be eligible for a single discount at a maximum of $25. All forms and payments must be received by May 16.

SVM is Looking for a Few Good Web Folks!

Make an impact on the field of vascular medicine through your contributions to SVM.

The position of Web site editor in addition to several committee slots will be open on June 1. The Web committee is responsible for the SVM Web site. Working with the SVM staff, the committee provides Web content, from their own library and through recruiting other SVM members and experts to provide content – and oversees that the appropriate infrastructure for SVM operations or activities is in place.

The Web site editor serves on board as Ex Officio member if not elected to the board.

The Web site editor, appointed by the president, and working with the IT staff, is responsible for

  • Creating an overall vision for the Web site
  • Chairing and populating a Web site committee capable of creating timely and relevant content for the SVM Web site consistent with the approved strategy and budget
  • Working with SVM IT staff to determine and follow policy regarding Web links, Web content, and advertising/sponsorship that advances SVM’s mission and minimizes the Society’s risk and liability
  • The Case Study of the Month, including recruiting authors and cases, inputting the case to the Web site, and approving cases submitted by outside authors
  • Giving monthly reports to the board and annual report during the business session at the annual meeting

Amazon Marketplace Now Closed

On March 20, 2011, the Illinois Legislature passed a law requiring residents of Illinois to pay sales taxes on all purchases made online. As a result of that new law, Amazon has discontinued its relationships with all affiliates based in Illinois, including SVM.
