SVM Committees

SVM has several committees that carry out different functions for the society. Among them are the following committees. To learn more about them, click on the name of the committee below.

Abstract Review Committee
The SVM Abstract Review Committee reviews the abstracts submitted for the SVM Annual Scientific Sessions.

Audit, Finance and Fundraising Committee
The SVM Audit and Finance Committee maintains oversight of the Society’s income and expenses and plans and implements internal and external audits of financial information.

Bylaws, Policies and Procedures Committee
The SVM Bylaws, Policies and Procedures Committee reviews the Society’s bylaws and policies and procedures manual.

Cases Over Cocktails Subcommittee
The SVM Cases Over Cocktails Subcommittee reviews the case studies abstracts submitted for the SVM Annual Scientific Sessions.

Communications and Publications Committee
The SVM Communications Committee helps synthesize medical information received by the Society for review. It assists the President and the SVM Board in communicating this position to our membership, as well as other professional and lay audiences.

Education Committee
The SVM Education Committee develops and guides the educational programming of the Society. Subcommittees are Maintenance of Certification/Enduring Materials, Vascular Education Day and Webinar.

Membership & Credentials Committee
The SVM Membership Committee develops, plans and implements strategies and programs to encourage membership in SVM and advise the Board on member needs and benefits.

Next Generation Committee
The SVM Next Generation Committee provides input to the President and the Board of Trustees on issues of importance to early career members. The Committee works with other SVM committees to develop programming of interest to early career members for annual Scientific Sessions and other SVM initiatives. The Committee will work to expand awareness of the field of vascular medicine in medical schools and post-graduate training programs. This committee also serves as a mechanisms to develop future SVM leadership.

Nominating Committee
The SVM Nominating Committee recommends to the board of trustees candidates to be nominated for officers, trustees-at-large and candidates to be appointed to the nominating committee.

Past President's Council
The Past Presidents Council provides input to the President and the SVM Board of Trustees on matters related to governance, fundraising, intersocietal relations, and strategic planning. The committee may be charged with specific tasks or projects as directed by the President and Board of Trustees.

Scientific Program Committee
The SVM Scientific Program Committee selects the program and the moderators for the annual scientific sessions, conducts other business connected with the program and makes recommendations to the Board of Trustees regarding educational initiatives of the Society.

Taskforce on Vascular Medicine Practice
The taskforce will provide input to the President and the Board of Trustees on issues of importance to vascular medicine practitioners in the clinical practice setting and will work with other SVM committees to develop programming and materials of interest to members, including clinical practice tools.

Vascular Jeopardy Subcommittee
The SVM Vascular Jeopardy Subcommittee prepares the questions and answers for the Vascular Jeopardy session at the SVM Annual Scientific Sessions.

Vascular Medicine Editorial Board
The editorial board supports the publication of SVM's journal, Vascular Medicine.

Vascular Medicine Subspecialty Recognition Taskforce
The Taskforce will identify opportunities for growth of the field of vascular medicine and provide guidance to the President and the SVM Board of Trustees regarding ongoing and future initiatives to achieve sub-specialty recognition for vascular medicine providers.

Website and Social Media Committee
The SVM Website Committee provides content and oversees that the appropriate infrastructure for SVM operations and activities is in place on the website.
